Leadership coaching focuses on work place issues, challenges and opportunities. As a whole person coach I believe that a coachee’s experiences outside of work have an impact on their ability and performance in work, and therefore work with the ‘whole person’ in my coaching sessions.
I offer Leadership Coaching online via Zoom, and face to face, either in West Wales or elsewhere in the UK a required. I also offer hiking and coaching, which provides the known benefits of hiking and coaching over a day.
How does a coaching session work?
Leadership Coaching is a professional and confidential relationship between a trained coach and coachee with the goal to enhance their leadership or management performance and development. For more information about coaching and my coaching style please see my Coaching Biography
that includes my experience and coaching style. We will discuss the coaching approach at the beginning of our first session.
A coaching session usually lasts 1 to 1.5 hours and as a minimum there are usually three sessions. In a session the coach works with you to explore the particular challenge, issue or opportunity you wish to explore in that sessions. The agenda of each session is driven by the coachee, not the coach.
What is the difference between coaching and counselling?
Often people ask what the difference is between coaching and counselling. For me the main difference is that coaching supports an individual through issues or opportunities they are currently facing and whilst historical issues or rooted behaviours may impact on these issues, in coaching we focus on how to move forward using tools and techniques rather than exploring the issues in detail and trying to resolve them, which is what counselling would do.
Carreg Coaching: style, approach & influences
Gary Reed has an emergent style of coaching that responds to the needs of the coachee in each session through powerful listening and by utilising a range of creative tools and techniques, including from the world of Gestalt, to help you reach your desired potential. Gary is a whole person centered coach in that he believes that all aspects of a coachee’s life have an influence on their ability and performance at work. My underpinning ethos is that coachees are equipped with the resources and ability to achieve their aspirations and my role is to help them access and utilise these.
Gary is very comfortable with his own vulnerability and he has emotional integrity and is very authentic. His coaching style is calm, engaging and attentive which creates a safe and secure environment for a coachee to explore and develop themselves.
Gary practice's mindfulness and over the years has consciously developed a grounded state i.e. being present, focussed in the moment, calm and resourceful.
An important aspect of coaching is to be challenged, and Gary does this gently by utilising and his intuition to raise observations, challenges, and creative coaching techniques to help the coachee explore more deeply with their thoughts and feelings.
